EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — A lot of prep work was made in Connecticut to prepare the state for the severe weather that stormed in on Saturday.

As several crews were stationed, many utility customers received text messages from groups like Eversource that said they were ready for the rain and wind.

And for first responders like those in East Hartford , it was a very busy day.

Flooding covered parts of the road, while fierce elements caused tree limbs to fall down in Newington, and bricks dislodged from a chimney in Cheshire. At one point, the Eversource outage maps showed close to 7,000 customers were impacted, with at least 1,000 from Meriden alone.

Crews were quickly deployed to tackle the outages, or any disaster that popped up. In East Hartford, that was downed wires, medical calls
