BRUNSWICK, Maine — A vehicle crashed through a Brunswick fitness center Thursday morning, injuring two people and forcing the business to close.

Brunswick police said the crash happened around 9:41 a.m. at Maine Pines Racquet and Fitness on Harpswell Road. A 2014 Jeep Cherokee broke through an outside wall, sped across four active tennis courts, and then plowed through the lobby before stopping in another room.

Witnesses told police that patrons ran in all directions to avoid the vehicle as it crossed the building.

Only two people were injured: the driver, identified as 72-year-old Michelle Vadeboncoeur of Gray, and a patron struck by flying glass. Both were taken to Mid Coast Hospital with minor injuries.
