DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A massive new development is coming to Durham that will include nearly 2,000 housing units and more than a million square feet of commercial space.
A portion of southeast Durham will soon look a lot different after the city council approved plans to make way for Durham Gateway at Brier Creek, located just north of Highway 70 near Leesville Road.
Pam Williams lives just yards away from the project and stands in opposition. That's partly because different construction crews have already been dynamite blasting behind her backyard in recent months.
"What would help us is to have some means to have mitigation for the damages done to the homes, five years of blasting on that 300-acre site," Williams said.
