NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — New Britain police are investigating two shootings in the city that left two men hospitalized this week.

On Wednesday, officers were called around 7 p.m. to Osgood Avenue and Corbin Avenue after reports of gunfire, police said. A man, who had been shot, entered a pizza diner on Corbin Avenue with a gun and asked for a ride, but staff called 911 instead.

He was later brought to a nearby hospital and was conscious and alert at the time. Witnesses said the suspect took off on a moped.

The incident followed another shooting around midnight Tuesday near Main and North streets. Officials said a man with a possible gunshot wound flagged down an officer after being involved in a disturbance near Janet Drive.
