Earlier this year, the UK Government declared 'the biggest fraud crackdown in a generation' aimed at reducing losses within the welfare system. The Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) estimates that the Public Authorities (Fraud, Error and Recovery) Bill will save taxpayers £1.5 billion over the next five years.

New measures include up to two-year driving bans for benefit cheats who repeatedly fail to repay owed money, powers allowing the DWP to recover funds directly from fraudsters' bank accounts, and Eligibility Verification, which enables third-party organisations like banks to flag potential fraudulent benefit claims.

According to guidance on GOV.UK , in a series of 11 new factsheets, the DWP provides further insight into how these new measures will be safely implemented
