KETCHIKAN, Alaska. — An Indiana woman is dead following a crash into a creek in Alaska.
On Thursday, at approximately 8:40 a.m., the Ketchikan Fire Department responded to the report of a vehicle accident in the Centennial Parking Lot next to Ketchikan Creek.
According to the city of Ketchikan, the vehicle had left the parking lot and struck a pedestrian, causing the vehicle to break through a fence and land in Ketchikan Creek. When the fire department arrived on-scene, their swift water rescue team quickly entered the creek to recover any victims.
Two victims were transported by ambulance to PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center in critical condition. Later at the hospital, one of the victims was pronounced dead by medical staff.
