INDIANAPOLIS - An Indiana State Trooper was sent to the hospital after another vehicle struck her patrol car late Thursday night.

According to State Police, around 11 p.m., Trooper Haley Howard was blocking a lane on I-65, just south of Downtown, protecting another trooper that was assisting a disabled motorist in the roadway.

Shortly after, Trooper Howard's patrol car was struck by a suspected drunk driver that was traveling at highway speed.

Trooper Howard was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle is under investigation for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
