ROYAL OAK – The Royal Oak Shrine Knights started fast and won the early-season showdown against the Clarkston Everest Collegiate Mountaineers 3-0 on Thursday night.
The Knights dominated the initial portion of the opening half and validated it on the board by scoring twice. First, it was Colin McCaffrey flicking a header to the far side off a corner kick by Adam Imai to give Shrine the lead just 5:57 into the game. Less than three minutes later, Anthony Soma chipped a ball from midfield over the top for his older brother, Caesar Soma, who found himself alone against the goalkeeper and slipped a ball into the far side with the outside of his foot to make it 2-0 Shrine.
