A former Leeds teacher has been banned from the profession after he admitted making indecent photographs of children.
Donal Donnelly, 60, who was a music teacher at a school in Leeds, was convicted in November 2023 of three counts of making indecent photographs of children. In December 2023 he was given an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, put on the sex offenders' register for 10 years and told to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work. Donnelly had admitted the offences which took place in November 2020.
Donnelly was employed as a teacher at Benton Park from January 2018 until July 3 2023 when he was dismissed. He was investigated by North Yorkshire Police who made it clear there was no evidence to suggest the offences involved children taught by Donnelly.
