The Hancock College women's volleyball team swept Cerro Coso to win its home opener, though it took some doing for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs breezed through the first set then had enough to edge the Coyotes in the last two. Hancock finished with a 3-0 non-conference win at Hancock's Joe White Memorial Gym Wednesday night to run its record to 3-4. Set scores were 25-11, 28-26, 25-23. Cerro Coso is 1-3.
Hancock has another non-league match on tap at Monterey Peninsula Friday night at 6 p.m.
As for now, "I would say the biggest on-court strength of our team is, we bounce back," said Hancock sophomore outside hitter Emma Olney after the Righetti High School graduate smacked a match-high 17 kills. "We know how to dig ourselves out of holes."
