SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are searching for the driver who hit and killed a woman at a gas station Sunday.
The 75-year-old victim has been identified by the medical examiner as Cynthia Lamar Anthony. Friends and acquaintances who knew her say they are devastated and demanding justice.
Matthew Mitchell, who works at a restaurant across from the gas station on Babcock Road near Wurzbach Road, said Anthony was experiencing homelessness but always radiated joy.
“What happened to her is not acceptable,” Mitchell said. “People need to be held accountable.”
Stephen Henderson, who also struggles with homelessness, said Anthony would often look out for others.
“I can’t believe it, man. Last time I saw her was right here by McDonald’s,” Henderson said.
