NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — A South Carolina prison inmate has been arrested in connection with a murder he allegedly orchestrated from behind bars.

The North Charleston Police Department rearrested 33-year-old Darrell Kasey Williams in connection with a 2020 murder in which he's now considered an accessory.

Investigators said that while in a state prison in Bennettsville, South Carolina, Williams used a cell phone to hire and communicate with a man named Quinton Taylor between April and May of that year. The victim, De'Andre Rivers, was killed on May 6. Taylor was on May 8, 2020.

Roughly five years later, on Aug. 25, Williams was arrested and taken from the state prison facility to Al Cannon Detention Center to face local charges in connection with the murder.
