FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A recount in the Georgia Senate District 21 race reaffirms the results from last month's special election.

A spokesperson for the Georgia Secretary of State's Office said the results from the recount, which was requested by candidate Steve West, matched the original results.

The original results from that night placed West, a Republican, in third, with 17.05% of the vote. He ran against six other candidates. The top two contenders were Democrat Debra Shigley and Republican Jason Dickerson. While Shigley received 39.51% of the votes, the results tallied showed Dickerson had 17.36% -- which left a small margin for West to come in third.
