TYLER, Texas — The East Texas Food Bank kicked off Hunger Action Month today with a sticky but meaningful challenge — a peanut butter showdown between Tyler and Longview.
“The peanut butter challenge was inspired by the natural rivalry between Tyler and Longview, the two biggest urban centers in East Texas, and i know they love playing each other in basketball, football, whatever the case may be," East Texas Food Bank Chief Development Officer Tim Butler said. "So, them coming together not only in a competitive way, but to feed our neighbors is really inspiring.”
The challenge is part of a larger effort during Hunger Action Month — a national campaign to bring attention to food insecurity and rally support for local food banks.
