Residents in Dundee have been advised to keep their doors and windows closed due to a significant fire at the Riverside Recycling Centre. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, has resulted in thick smoke billowing from the facility located on Wright Avenue in the west of the city.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that three fire crews are currently on the scene. A spokesperson stated, "We have three fire appliances in attendance at a recycling centre fire on Wright Avenue, Dundee. Due to smoke in the area, residents in Dundee, Newport and Tayport are advised to keep windows and doors closed."
The recycling centre is situated near Dundee Airport, but operations at the airport remain unaffected. Flights are continuing to depart on schedule for various destinations, including London Heathrow and Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands. Arrivals from these locations are also expected to proceed as planned.
