A man has been jailed for two sickening cases of sexual abuse against girls - more than a decade apart. Christopher Atherton has been locked up for 13 years for his horrific crimes.

Greater Manchester Police said the 47-year-old committed offences against two girls in the. He was found guilty of three charges - two of indecent assault and sexual assault - when his first victim was under 16 in the early 2000s.

He was also found guilty of the sexual assault of a child under 13; and causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity relating to an incident at least 15 years later.

Atherton, of Milnthorpe Way, Adrwick, was convicted following a trial at Minshull Street Crown Court. He's now been jailed for 13 years.
