Drivers could be unknowingly breaking the law every time they hit the road and risking a £1,000 fine, according to experts. While most motorists focus on checking their tyres, oil, and fuel before long journeys, there's one legal requirement that often gets overlooked.

Driving experts say having obscured or unreadable number plates - whether it's from road grime or something loaded into the car - is more common than you might think.
