First responders in Adams County rescued an injured worker Thursday morning after they fell while servicing a nearby business underground.

Gettysburg Fire crews just before 9:30 a.m. were dispatched to the first block of Carlisle Street for the incident, where a service worker fell 10 feet while trying to access an underground vault beneath the Majestic Theater.

EMS workers made contact with the service worker, who was treated for injuries before being put onto a stretcher and brought to street level. It is unclear how severely the worker was injured.

A medical airlift was placed on standby but was later canceled, Gettysburg Fire said .
