WINONA - The Winona Fire Department has purchased a 2019 Horton ambulance, a move the department says was made possible by community support.
The new ambulance replaces an older model and was funded through community donations and a local levy. A post on the department’s social media page included a photo of the vehicle and a message thanking residents for their ongoing support.
The Winona Fire Department is a volunteer department with approximately 30 active members. It serves a 33-square-mile area in Butler and Salem townships, with a population of about 4,700 people. The district includes portions of the United and West Branch school districts, Kent State University’s Salem campus, and Allegheny Wesleyan College.
