Ian Murray has lost his job as Scottish Secretary amid an ongoing emergency Cabinet reshuffle by Keir Starmer.
The MP for Edinburgh South is among the high profile casualties of a major reorganisation of the Prime Minister's top team following the shock resignation of Angela Rayner earlier today.
Murray, who was the sole surviving Labour MP in Scotland after the 2015 and 2019 general elections, has been a prominent critic of the SNP Government in Edinburgh.
He served as Shadow Scottish Secretary under both Starmer and Jeremy Corbyn before taking on the equivalent Cabinet post following Labour's landslide general election win in July last year.
Murray, a well-known Hearts supporter, had joined the Prime Minister on a visit to the BAE shipyard in Govan yesterday.
