Detectives with the San Marcos Sheriff's Station served a search warrant on Sept. 4 at an apartment in the 400 block of Smilax Road. The suspect, identified as Weston Strawn, was taken into custody outside his apartment as he was walking to his vehicle.

Authorities say Strawn had been under investigation for breaking into a vending machine in the 1200 block of West Mission Road on two separate occasions. The thefts caused significant damage to the machine and
