CHARLESTON — The College of Charleston is mourning the death of Heather Hall, a graduate and professor who died in Portugal on Sept. 3 after a funicular lost control and crashed at high speed.
At least 17 people were killed in the crash at the bottom of a steep hill in Lisbon following a cable malfunction.
Hall was a professor in the Department of Teacher Education who specialized in literacy and special education. She also was a graduate of the College.
Fran Welch, the dean of the School of Education, said Hall’s death is “a tragic loss for all of us.”
