INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis mother charged with neglect after her son shot and killed himself with her gun is now losing custody of her daughter, at least temporarily.

Keiara Bickett, 28, cried in court Friday morning, Sept. 5 when the judge issued a no-contact order for Keiara with her 9-year-old daughter. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office charged Keiara with neglect of a dependent resulting in death.

IMPD officers reported to a person shot at the CVS parking lot in the 2300 block of East 46th Street , near Keystone Avenue, on the city's north side just before 3 p.m. June 19.

According to court documents, the caller – later identified as Keiara – advised that her son, Javarius Bickett, had shot himself in the head and the gun was in the car.
