WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Two men have been arrested after a wellbeing check turned into a narcotics investigation outside a Riverdale Street business in West Springfield.
Police found two men slumped over, but breathing, in an SUV with Vermont plates around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday. Officers broke in and got both men oriented, but they refused medical assistance and said they were just resting because they had gotten tired from driving.
However, police saw drug paraphernalia in plain view and later found fentanyl, crack-cocaine, and a loaded gun inside, which prompted their arrest.
The men, 48-year-old Shawn Gregory Rainey of Victory, VT and 51-year-old Pedro Jose Ledee of Hartford, CT, are facing several charges.
