MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Madison Fire Department reported responding Thursday to an electrical issue at a downtown Madison café.

Crews responded around 1:30 p.m. to Bradbury’s Coffee, on the 100 block of North Hamilton Street, for a potential fire in an appliance.

Firefighters reported hearing alarms going off when they arrived, and people heard popping sounds coming from around a dishwasher.

MFD said a person used a fire extinguisher, and turned off the circuit breaker before firefighters got there.

Firefighters unplugged the dishwasher and pulled it away from the wall. MFD said crews discovered charring around an outlet the dishwasher had been plugged into.

MFD told Public Health Madison and Dane County about the situation, and aired out the café.
