By a unanimous vote, the Brownsville Independent School District Board of Trustees has approved the administrative recommendation to name Anna Gaucin as the district’s new chief of police.

Gaucin, who brings more than 20 years of experience in law enforcement and education, will oversee a department of 73 police officers and 53 security officers.

Her appointment came at the regular meeting of the BISD Board of Trustees on Tuesday.

Superintendent Jesus H. Chávez said Gaucin’s unique combination of law enforcement expertise and educational insight makes her ideal for the position.

“Her extensive experience within our district and her deep understanding of our school community will strengthen our campus safety efforts,” he said.
