MADISON (WKOW) — A new bipartisan bill, the Wisconsin Beagle Freedom Bill ( SB 414 ), aims to mandate a three-week adoption period for dogs and cats in testing facilities.

The bill, introduced by several state senators and representatives on Thursday, seeks to prevent default euthanasia by offering these animals to shelters or rescues.

"While seven Wisconsin municipalities have already banned dog and cat experimentation, the reality is that thousands of Wisconsin dogs continue to be confined in cruel conditions and subjected to horrific experiments," Rebekah Robinson, president of Dane4Dogs, said.
