When New Tech Odessa math teacher Jennifer Nuñez learned she was the recipient of the 2025 Yale Educator Award, she was completely surprised.

Nuñez, who teaches algebra 2 honors, Advanced Placement pre calculus and AP calculus, was nominated by former student Adrian Rodriguez, now a student at Yale.

Principal Abel Avila said Rodriguez is the first NTO student to go to an Ivy League school.

Rodriguez texted Nuñez to look at her email because he knows how busy she gets during the day.
