A Canton resident was arrested Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Dorchester in May, officials said.

Jordan Evans, 32, was apprehended in Canton on murder and weapons charges for allegedly shooting Shakar Caterson, 35, on the night of May 3 in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Georgia Street, police said.

It wasn’t clear if Evans had hired a lawyer who could speak on his behalf. Arraignment details weren’t immediately available.

Officers were called to the shooting scene around 11 p.m. and found Caterson, of Dorchester, suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.

He was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police didn’t detail the evidence allegedly linking Evans to the crime.
