In a bid to help businesses hammered by tariffs on the ongoing trade wars with the United States and China, Prime Minister Mark Carney ’s government is delaying and changing two major climate policies from when Justin Trudeau was in power.

According to a government release issued Friday, Carney will delay incoming sales mandates for zero-emission vehicles, and “amend” regulations for cleaner fuels to help automakers and other businesses hit by tariffs and support the biofuel sector.

The moves unveiled Friday also include a suite of measures designed to help sectors struggling under tariffs, including a job training program to help up to 50,000 workers, more than $6 billion in loans and aid, and new “Buy Canadian” provisions to ensure domestic material and providers reap benefits from
