A fuel spill involving a United States military helicopter has prompted an emergency response at the Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport, according to Krysten Johnson, a communications manager in the Yukon Department of Highways and Public Works.

A Facebook post by the department on the morning of Sept. 5 mentions emergency vehicles and activity are on the scene at the airport.

The spill has been contained, fire crews are on site and no flight delays are expected, per the post.

Johnson said the spill involved a U.S. military Chinook aircraft.
