SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – An Oil City man's request for a high court to overturn his 90-year conviction for possession of child pornography was denied.

On June 26, 2023, Anthony J. Remedes, 41, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three consecutive 30-year sentences for a total of 90 years for possession of child pornography involving juveniles under 13 by Judge Donald Hathaway.

Remedes appealed what he claimed was an "excessive sentence" in Louisiana's Second Circuit Court of Appeals, according to the Caddo District Attorney's Office. On July 23, 2025, the Court of Appeal posted the decision, upholding Judge Hathaway's sentencing.

Remedes was arrested on May 11, 2022, by the Louisiana State Police after the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office turned over findings of child sexual exploit
