TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The suspect involved in the Hideout bar shooting that happened in early August, turned himself in on Thursday.
The Tucson Police Department said Benjamin Alberto Mendoza Jr., 23, turned himself in at TPD Headquarters on Sept. 4. The 23-year-old was booked into the Pima County Jail on his warrant for 2nd Degree Murder.
According to TPD, based on Homicide Unit Detectives' findings following interviews with witnesses and forensic evidence, they obtained an arrest warrant for Mendoza.
On Aug. 10, officers responded to a shooting report at the Hideout bar , 3500 S. Mission Road, around 1 a.m. Fred Sanchez, 45, was found unresponsive with gunshot wounds and later died at a hospital. A second man, 23, involved in the confrontation with Sanchez was also shot and hospital
