Yet another U.S. legislator representing the St. Louis area is going to bat for members of the military and veterans.

U.S. Rep. Wesley Bell, D-St. Louis, is co-sponsor of a bill introduced this week that would require the Defense Department to screen service members and families who develop medical problems from living in unsafe military housing.

Bell was joined by fellow Democrat U.S. Rep. Yassamin Ansari of Arizona on the legislation.

The bill requires military health facilities to screen people for health conditions linked to substandard housing, and to also create a registry to track individual health problems.
