EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — The Vanderburgh County Coroner has released the identity of a 14-year-old boy who was shot and killed on East Cherry Street in Evansville.

As we reported, authorities were called to the scene of a shooting on East Cherry Street near South Evans Avenue just before 4 p.m. Thursday.

Through their investigation, police said they determined the victim was accidentally shot by another juvenile, who was ultimately charged with reckless homicide and dangerous possession of a firearm.

The coroner has now identified the victim as 14-year-old Jayvion'tae Cox.

According to the coroner, Cox passed away at the scene of the shooting, which happened at his home.
