ACE Leadership High School in Albuquerque has installed two metal detectors and a bag scanner, prompting discussions about expanding these security measures to more schools.

"And we started working with some parents talking to staff members, just looking at data around the city, and we decided to be proactive and set up our safety checkpoint and then commit the finances to make it happen. And it was a whole thought process because it has to change," said Ralph Gonzales.

The school has two checkpoints, and Gonzalez said they aim to make the process as easy as possible for students, ensuring they do not feel like they are in line at airport security.
