HUEYTOWN, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Police in Hueytown say a suspect in Thursday night’s homicide is in custody.

Miguel Angel Torres-Rodriguez, 48, of Hueytown was captured in Newton County, Mississippi.

Police say they knew he was driving a red truck and they had information he was heading west toward Mississippi.

According to Hueytown Police, 911 dispatch received a call about a woman who was shot in the 1700 block of Robins St. Hueytown.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman as Rocia Vega. She was 52. Police say Vega and Rodriguez were married.

When officers arrived, they found her dead inside a home.

After speaking with witnesses, police determined the shooting was domestic in nature.
