DENVER (KDVR) — The Regional Transportation District announced that it has implemented virtual reality technology to train its Transit Police Department "to build upon their technical skills and refine in-the-moment decision-making."

The RTD announced on Tuesday in a press release that almost half of its 100 sworn officers with the department since June have completed the reality-based training.

The program creates a simulated environment for officers to understand possible real-world scenarios while in the field. The use of the technology also teaches in-the-moment decision-making, including the use of TASERs, said RTD.
