Another shooting in South Surrey has been linked to the recent string of extortion attempts on local business owners.
Around 3:50 a.m. on Friday, Surrey police were called to the 14300 block of 28th Avenue for what sounded like shots fired.
Investigators found a number of shell casings along 28th Avenue but no homes were damaged and no residents injured in the gunfire.
Sgt. Tige Pollock said investigators have linked the Friday morning shooting to the recent extortion-related attacks on local businesses, but would not say how police determined that link or if a previously targeted business owner lived near the site of the shooting.
