DUNSEITH, N.D. (KMOT) - A historic building and property near the gateway to the North Dakota Peace Garden is a part of a big project.
The Rolette County Historical Society is planning to refurbish it and create an R.V. farm in the area.
Last year, the Rolette County Historical Society was approached about restoring a building from the 1940s, commonly known as the Urbain Cote Round Barn.
Becky Leonard with the group said the structure is on the national registry for historic places.
“It’s actually a one-of-a-kind building; it was intentionally built as a dairy barn with a dance hall above,” said Leonard.
Leonard said the historical society is on a five-year contract to purchase the barn, various outbuildings and the 33 acres it sits on.
