BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - There are many old sayings and old wives’ tales for just about everything. We even have sayings about cattle that were used to predict the weather.

“When the cattle go into the corner in the pasture, it’s going to storm.”

This one just makes good sense, cattle or human.

“Whenever there was a windstorm, they would all gather together and put their butts to the wind.”

Those were just a couple that people could remember at the Burleigh County Senior Center over caramel rolls when we went looking for more sayings.

Another one that was mentioned spoke of cattle with long fur and how that could be an indication of a bad winter. And unfortunately, the cattle have long fur already. We will have to wait and see if that one holds up.
