PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - As harvest season begins, drivers will once again share the roads with tractors and other farm equipment, prompting the Illinois State Police to advise drivers on traveling safely.
In 2024, ISP responded to 10 crashes that involved farm equipment in Central Illinois. To help reduce that number, the law enforcement agency has some tips and tricks drivers can use for navigating during the season.
ISP reminds drivers to be patient, reduce speed, and increase their following distance when driving behind wide, slow-moving vehicles. Vehicles that flash amber lights indicate to the driver to exercise caution, and those that flash orange and red triangles mean the equipment is traveling at a slower speed than normal vehicles.
