NISKAYUNA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- One local woman and her pets are lucky to be alive after a fire at the Iroquois Village Apartments in Niskayuna yesterday. The swift actions of first responders saved the resident involved, and it’s all thanks to innovative fire-fighting technology.
Niskayuna firefighters were called to the scene for a reported fire alarm. Yet when they arrived, Chief James Vena says there were no signs of a fire, just a massive flow of water. They followed the water and found the apartment. When they entered the building, they immediately faced a thick cloud of smoke.
“Smoke came pouring out of the apartment right into the hallway, which set off the smoke alarms in the hallway to the rest of the building" said Vena. "So at this point, they realized we did have a fire because
