MERIDIAN — A Lauderdale County EMT was arrested Thursday after authorities received a tip about possible child pornography in the Meridian area, officials said.

The Mississippi Attorney General’s Office contacted the Meridian Police Department on May 15 after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children hotline flagged a possible case of child pornography, according to investigators.

Meridian police began investigating but determined the suspect lived outside the city limits. They then turned the case over to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s investigators arrested Ryan Michael Lamoreaux about 8:30 a.m. Thursday. He was charged with possession of child pornography, authorities said.
