WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - We’re one week away from New England’s biggest fair, and final preparations are fully underway.

Western Mass News went to The Big E Fairgrounds in West Springfield to learn more about how The Eastern States Exposition is planning to handle safety and security this season.

It’s something that’s a concern in any public setting or large crowd, even following some arrests at the fair last year. However, The Eastern States exposition leadership is ensuring that this final week of preparation will make for a safe and secure season.

The 2024 season at the big e was certainly successful, with the fair setting an all-time attendance record of more than 1.6 million people. But experienced multiple arrests after fights broke out across the fairgrounds as well.
