AMHERST, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - To follow up on Wednesday’s incident at UMass Lowell, where a juvenile was spotted carrying a BB gun on campus. UMass Amherst issued a response about their security measures if something like that were to occur on their campus.

Safety for students is top of mind at UMass Amherst. The university told us that before Wednesday’s incident in Lowell, students in Amherst had already been notified that emergency alert system testing would be taking place next week on September 10th that includes sending emails, texts, and even playing sirens across the campus to demonstrate what would take place in an actual emergency.
