PORTSMOUTH, Va. — An off-duty Portsmouth police officer injured a woman by accident when she accidentally shot someone else in the restroom.

Police said Friday afternoon, they received a 911 call reporting a shooting in the 1500 block of London Boulevard.

When officers arrived, they found that an off-duty officer, working security detail at a local establishment, had accidentally discharged her service weapon while using the restroom.

Another woman who was also using the restroom was struck by the round. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and police say she is expected to make a full recovery.
