NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) — More than 100 workers at a popular Newport hotel will be laid off later this year 12 News has learned.
In a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed with the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training (DLT) last week, Hotel Viking announced it will be laying off 105 employees effective Nov. 3.
The employees are not represented by a union and the hotel is not closing, according to the WARN notice.
It's unclear which positions have been cut, as well as what prompted the layoffs. 12 News has reached out to the DLT and Hotel Viking about the layoffs but has not heard back.
