GOODING COUNTY, Idaho — A driver was killed Friday afternoon after pulling a firearm on Gooding County deputies who were responding to a vehicle stuck on Highway US-30.

The incident happened at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, when deputies responded to reports of a high-centered vehicle, according to the Gooding County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said they made contact with the driver, who remained in the area near the disabled vehicle. When one deputy approached to inspect the vehicle, the driver drew a firearm, prompting both deputies to discharge their service weapons, authorities said.

The sheriff's office said the driver died at the scene from his injuries. The driver's identity was not immediately released.
