ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — This Sunday, the Family Peace Center will host its fifth annual "Race to End Domestic Violence" at Sugar River Raceway in Brodhead, Wisconsin.
Participants will race in go-karts that can reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, with the majority of registration fees being donated back to the Family Peace Center.
"It's basically a one-stop shop for victims of domestic violence," said Rockford's Brownfields Redevelopment Specialist Robert Wilhelmi. "Whether it be individuals, whether it be families. They provide comprehensive services to help victims get away from domestic violence."
The Family Peace Center was founded in 2020 through Mayor McNamara's office and has since helped over 2,200 survivors of domestic violence.
The event aims to raise awareness and funds
